Stuff we found out about this past week- The Weekly Update

Hey crew, so here are some up and coming things we learned about this past week:

1.  Medical Equipment- Pick it up in A226 from 12:30-1:30 on Tuesday!!!!! (Tomorrow).  Bring cheque or credit card.


2.  Anatomy in class clicker quiz- Wednesday, October 14.  Be sure to partake to earn that 0% that half of us all know we are getting!  Or study up and actually have more than just chance playing a role in your grade!


3. SWITCH- Switch has their fun run October 18th.  Registration forms available at SWITCH.


4.  Kettle/Microwave- MUMPS wants both.  If you have one to donate for us students to use, please contact Shandy slf672@mail.usask.ca.  You can even get a plaque thingy on your donation!


5.  IFlipr- Don't forget to check out the online anatomy flash cards our TA James gave us!! http://iflipr.com/.  October 24th Rider Trip to Regina: $70, bus leaves at 12 noon and will be back in the evening.  Contact Astrid at amj683@mail.usask.ca for tickets


6.  International Exchange:  Friday, October 16th (@ 12:30, B450) there will be a brief presentation on the CFMS/IFMSA exchange program. The 9 students who went abroad last summer to countries including Germany, Jamaica, Lithuania, Denmark and Brazil (to name a few) will also speak about their experiences. Hope to see some interested travelers there! 


7.  Shadowing List: Check it Out!  In One45 under Sept 14 lecture.


8.  Global Health Mentorship Project: If you are interested in applying for a mentor, please fill out the attached form and return it to  mentorship@cfms.org by October 15^th, 2009. If you have any further questions, please feel free to email me at vhayward2012@meds.uwo.ca.

9.  Integrative health seminar:  Quality of Life and Mental Health, Tuesday, October 27, 12:00 Noon, RUH Main Mall Lecture Theatre. Bring your own lunch


10.  Global Health Travel Bursary  for College of Medicine Students: Funding is available for Five (5) bursaries for up to $2000.00 each.  The bursary application is available to U of S College of Medicine students (undergraduate medicine, physical therapy, and graduate).  Application deadline is November 30, 2009 at 4:00 p.m..  Visit  www.medicine.usask.ca/international for guideline descriptions and application requirements.


11.   CFMS Student Initiative Grants – Funding for your local projects (Deadline Oct 31)  The goal is to assist students in realizing events or initiatives that promote interaction between CFMS member schools. A revolving system to reviewing application will be adopted. The deadline for submissions for funding of the 2009-2010 cycle will be October 31, 2009 and February 28, 2010, at which times all proposals received will be assessed.
