The Weekly Update


Hey Lucky 13,

Here is what is up for this week, try not to pull all of your hair out:

1.     The CFMS, in partnership with IFMSA-Quebec (the global health group of FMEQ) have partnered to host the 2010 August General meeting of the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA).  The Organizing Committee for the meeting is currently looking for motivated students from across the country to get involved in the planning process.  An information session/planning meeting is on Monday, October 26 at 12:30 in Room B450.  www.montrealam2010.com.
2.     Histology Lab Assignment:  Due October 27.  It is generally taking about 1-2hrs to complete.
3.     SMSS Annual General Meeting:  Takes place Tuesday at 12:30pm in B450.  Be there if you want to vote on amendments.
4.     Family Medicine Presentation: Dr. Bill Eaton from Memorial University of Newfoundland will do a presentation to interested medical students at the University of Saskatchewan to promote Family Medicine as a career choice. Takes place Tuesday, October 27 at 12:30pm in B6.  Sign up in class Monday.
5.     ACDET:  Login and put in your time by November 2
6.     Proskills:  Physical exam and patient interviews are due all next week, hand in to the undergraduate office (A204)
7.     Pro skills:  Short essay on teaching experiences (<4 pages) is due October 30.
8.     Anatomy Module III assignment:  Available on Blackboard and due November 2
9.     Horizons Conference:  Saturday, October 31.  Goes until 3:30.  See previous post below for details
10.  Pro-choice talk: The Saskatchewan Pro-choice Network is putting on an event featuring a film called "I had an Abortion", as well as a talk by Dr. Mahood, a family physician who is also a provider. Date: Thursday, October 29th. Community fair at 6:00 PM, film at 7:00 PM, speaker to follow.  Location: Francis Morrison Public Library (311-23rd Street East).
11.  Date Auction: November 4.  Don't forget to sign up just outside of B450 with your talent/act.
12.  Med Games: Registration is due October 30. Talk to Caitlin for details (cal818@mail.usask.ca)
13.  Preceptor Evaluation:  Do this on One45.
