Auscultate: Call for Submissions!




Dear Readers
'Auscultate: IFMSA Africa Newseltter' is a new newsletter focusing on health in Africa, published by the African division of the International Federation of Medical Students (IFMSA) . 'Auscultate's' primary audience and contributors are students from all around the world and it is run by a medical student editorial team from various African countries.


If you are part of a Medical Student Organisation, this is the perfect platform to share your organisation's work and its people with others on the continent and off!
'
Auscultate' is issuing it's second ever edition in March 2010 and this is a call for fiction, non-fiction, experiences, medical education, perspectives, poetry, photography art and whatever else you can think ofSubmissions must be received by 24 January and we welcome both the novice and experienced.

The general theme of the issue is 
'ALTERNATIVE AND COMPLEMENTARY HEALTH IN AFRICA'.



We invite any submission by anybody in any field (medicine, economics, art,philosophy, biology, geology, politics, geology etc...)  from any country , not just medical students from African countries. Hence, please forward this to anyone you know, not necessarily students in your own field.



We are also actively recruiting for new members of the editorial team, specifically those who are able to source articles, and those adept at working with programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw etc.



We wish to specifically establish the following sections and we are especially looking for people who will contribute these or to these:


  • Content about the theme of the issue ...perspectives , reviews, data, opinion, photography, cartoons, criticism, suggestion etc. MAXIMUM of 1500 WORDS
  • Cover Art/Photography
  • Articles about the activities of the IFMSA in Africa. 
  • A section on 'top tips' for other medical students e.g. an online reference that proved really useful in studying, getting involved in research etc.
  • Ethical dilemmas or moral conflicts that you have found yourself in.
  • Reviews of books, biographies, textbooks.
  • Useful websites
  • New guidelines published that might be useful in other countries.
  • Overseas experiences, experiences in wards in your country, discuss medical electives
  • Artwork
  • Satirical or other Cartoons
  • Medical and Biological studies that need to be done
  • A photography series showcasing the Joy of Medicine
