City of Thunder Bay Family Medicine Award

Greetings:

The City of Thunder Bay  Family Medicine Award is part of a recruitment and retention initiative in which medical students originally from Thunder Bay are encouraged to return to Thunder Bay to practice family medicine upon completion of their education and residency programs.

The City of Thunder Bay Medical Student Award recognizes and rewards local students who are studying medicine in Canada and who plan to train as family physicians and return to Thunder Bay to practice upon the completion of their training.

According to Mayor Lynn Peterson, "We acknowledge the importance of financial aid to medical students and hope by providing this award, the student(s) will be recognized by the citizens of Thunder Bay. In turn we hope the future family physician(s) will return "home" to set up practice".

For 2010 there will be four awards of $5000.
